Relief Application Guidelines
Who
is eligible for Relief Assistance from the Fund?
Grant
applications received from St. Bernard-based community groups,
organizations, schools, churches, government agencies and established
non-profits will receive priority consideration over those submitted
by individuals in the introductory period of The Fund, as per
edict by the fund’s Board of Directors. The Board believes
that helping these organizations and agencies, continue to service
the populace of the Parish is the most effective use of initial
funds. Simultaneously, the Fund will concentrate its management
efforts to raise an additional $300,000 from the public which
will allow Biloxi Marsh Lands Corporation to fulfill its commitment
to match $.50 of each dollar raised, increasing the Fund’s
treasure to $600,000.00. Once this is accomplished, the Fund
will consider individual applications for relief.
Who
has received assistance from the Fund to date?
•
Camp Hope, a former school renovated into a temporary housing
facility to accommodate volunteers, who are living free of charge
while they gut, clean and repair houses at no cost to St. Bernard
residents struggling to rebuild.
•
St. Bernard youth currently living in FEMA trailers, who will
soon have organized social activities and free movies at a St.
Bernard school site.
